Rachel is officially on a diet... sorta. I don't really do the "diet" thing but I've definitely noticed a little extra pooch in the belly area. I wasn't aware of the extent of my weight gain until recently, when I was munching at the dessert table at a party and a man made the following comment: "Your baby's gona start kickin' like crazy after all that sugar!" I immediately lost my appetite, and threw the caramel apple in the garbage. Outraged, I went to the bathroom and I did totally look preggo! I partially blame my outfit-- a form-fitting black t-shirt dress, with a black sweater tied around my waist, and a bulky printed scarf. I'm sure the extra 15 pounds I gained didn't help.

I didn't realized that I had gained that much weight until I found a scale. "You lie!" I silently shouted to the obviously broken scale. I found additional scales for more thorough research. After stepping on four different scales, I accepted the gloom fact-- I'm a fatty.  :(

It's been a year since I quit my job, and began traveling. During this time, I abandoned my healthy habits and went into vacation mode. Unfortunately for my health and wallet, my vacation has extended into a lifestyle. It started with LA and got progessively worse with Vegas, Chicago (damn you deep-dish pizza!), Europe (steins of beer at Oktoberfest), and several trips to NYC (I'm pretty sure The Devil invented Halal carts.).

I also blame stress! I have been one big ball of stress since Crazy entered my life. And, I only recently noticed the extra weight. Coincidence? I think not. As a matter of fact, I went to the doctor less than two months ago, and I had only gained 5lbs from the year before. So, I can undoubtedly blame Crazy and NYC for making me fat! Okay, I guess my general lack of self-discipline didn't help. And now that Crazy is out of my life (I hope!), I can re-focus.

I suppose I am somewhat glad that jerk at the party thought I was expecting. At least now I am aware of the situation and am motivated to make a change. In fact, I have been hiking and dancing my butt off (literally) this week. I have been eating healthy and doing all of the healthy activities that I love to get back on track. I already feel a difference and can't wait to get a sexy Halloween costume next month! Okay, time to get my fat butt off the computer, and hike! Ta ta friends!
