POF #7: TBD
I've come to the point that I don't care about what I look like when I go on a blind date because chances are, my date will be a 3 (on a scale of 1-10). So on my most recent date, I did not brush my teeth, and wore comfy flat boots that did not match my dress at all.
In addition to minimal effort in appearance, I am also beginning to realize that I can say anything I want about myself, as long as I mention that I am a dancer. The dance factor seems to negate everything else, including smelly gas and armpit hair. I could probably say that I am employed as a rodeo clown and that my ex-boyfriend is an extremely jealous MMA fighter, and a guy would just nod his head while imagining me doing the splits naked.
Anyway, I met POF #7 at a sushi spot on the Upper East Side. My first impression of him was good. He was well-dressed, clean shaven, looked fit, and had a friendly disposition despite the fact that I was an hour late. Although I found it a bit odd that the bartender/server was my date's friend, he was awfully cute. I tried not to be rude and flirt with my date's hot friend, but it wasn't easy--especially after two glasses of sake wine.
Anyway, we got a couple of delicious sushi rolls. They were awesome, but each piece was the size of a double-stuffed Oreo cookie. Once one of us took a piece, conversation halted for at least two minutes while waiting for the other person to finish chewing. We quickly realized that we had to synchronize our sushi consumption. In between pieces, we had relatively decent conversation. My date told me that he works in IT, has a house in Long Island, was paralyzed from the waist down for two months after a mountain biking accident, jogs with a friend in Central Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays, was once engaged, skis Killington but went to Tahoe last winter and loved it, hates his job, plays drinking games and smokes pot on Saturdays. Hmm... I think I like this guy!
Unfortunately, he lacks passion. He stated that he wasn't happy with his job, and was actively interviewing with other companies. But, I don't think that he really has any clear goals that he's working towards. I need someone with a little more ambition. However, I do think I could be friends with this person. He seems very nice, normal, and fun. He did express that he liked me, which is always flattering. I just feel bad that I only got a friend vibe from him.
After the date, I had a text conversation with a friend who says that I'm being too picky and should give this guy a chance. So, for the first time in my POF experiment, I am willing to go out with this person again. Even if it is just as friends. POF #7: TBD.
